When we think of holiday makeup, it is usually shimmery, sexy, smoky, glossy (woo hoo!). But what about more sedate holiday gatherings, like Thanksgiving, the office holiday party or a demure gathering of family and friends? There are occasions when we may want to look dressed up, but also grown up.

For a look that is sophisticated, classic and timeless, try Triple Cognac PurePressed Triple Eyeshadow on the eyes, with Black Plus Cream To Powder Eyeliner and Longest Lash Mascara in Dark Auburn.

To finish the look, there is nothing more elegant and refined than red lips. For real staying power, remember to start with Lip Definer. Try Crimson and then top with Nicole PureMoist LipColour, or experiment to find the perfect shade of red for you.

What a classic and gorgeous look for the holidays or any day! It makes me think of the classic movies....like Breakfast at Tiffany's. I know I'd feel more beautiful even doing my grocery shopping looking so put together. Thanks Shaun and Tricia!

I have a concern after applying jane iredale eyeshadow and the liquid liner. I find after a couple hours after application I look into the mirror and see the liquid eyeliner has flaked off onto my face as well as fibers from the mascara Longest Lash Thickening & Lengthening Mascara.

Also I notice the circle delete accentuates the dryness under the eye. Help! Any tips to help with these issues. Thanks

I have exactly the same issue as the flaking mascara fibres and dryness being accentuated

If you use the lash conditioner or the lash/brow fix with the longest lash mascara it stops the flaking. Apply moisturizer under the eye before you apply the active light concealer. Haven't run into the liquid liner problem....

Hello Jean and Valerie,

Thank you for your comments! Rachel has some great suggestions for you, and here are some more:

1) Liquid Liner: Try shaking it up before applying it. This helps to blend the ingredients and may improve wear. You might also try applying a tiny amount of Lid Primer to the lids before applying eyeshadow and liner. Another trick for longer wear is to apply eye Pencil first, as a template, then the Liquid Liner over the top.

2) I have never experienced any flaking with Longest Lash Mascara. However, applying a coat of PureLash Extender & Conditioner first will help the Mascara to glide on smoothly, and it also nourishes your lashes.

3) Circle\Delete is a rich, moisturizing formula, but remember, a little goes a long way! Usually the issue is applying too much, and excess may collect in the fine lines around the eyes. Apply a tiny amount and use your ring finger to blend. The warmth of your finger will melt the concealer into your skin. Alternatively, you could try Active Light and see if that formulation suits you better.

To see if any of these tips help you, I would like to send you each of those three products to try, and then we can stay in touch about how it worked out for you.

Thanks!
