I'm sorry for the delay in postings, but I have just been on vacation (YAY!). I thought it would be fun to see what we bring with us in our makeup bags when we travel.

I love traveling light. I'd rather go without than be weighed down. The few things I pack are soft knitted separates that can be mixed and matched endlessly, and don't need ironing: a jersey dress, a cardigan, leggings, skirt, tanks. This can last me two weeks! My makeup kit is similar:
- Powder-Me SPF.
- PurePressed Base (used as foundation, sun block, and concealer. Really, it is my new favorite concealer, applied with the Sculpting Brush to my under eye circles and the redness around the corners of my nose).
- Pommisst Hydration Spray - brilliant for dry planes, in a travel-friendly 2 oz. bottle.
- Double Dazzle for a touch of shimmer on the lids or full cocktail party eyes; as well as lip color when needed.
- Black Pencil for the water line and lash lines.
- Lip Drink.
While this may sound like vacation packing (and it is) I use this formula for business travel as well. I might add my favorite Uniqlo blazer and one eye shadow triple instead of the Glimmer Gold.
My dear friend and colleague Laura is always prepared for everything, and her travel makeup kit proves it. When travelling, she will be equally confident on a hike in the woods or at a red carpet event, because in her Quilted Makeup Bag she packs:
- Deluxe Travel Size Dream Tint
- Active Light
- PurePressed Base
- Moonglow
- So-Bronze 3
- 2 Hydration Sprays- Pommisst and D20 (WHY? Because she likes to have options)
- Lid Primer
- 2 Longest Lash Mascaras – Black Ice and Espresso
- PureLash Extender & Conditioner
- 2 Cream to Powder Eyeliners- Black Plus and Black/Brown
- Champagne Eye Gloss
- PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple – Brown Sugar (this is the one I would bring too. it is so versatile!)
- Perfectly Nude Eye Shadow Kit
- Double Dazzle
- Powder-Me SPF
- 4 PureGloss (depending on the season…) Apricot Fizz, Cotton Candy, Soft Peach, Pink Candy
- 2 Lip Definers- Nude and Spice
- Lip Drink
- Pencil Sharpener
- 10 Brushes: Blending, Camouflage, Handi, White Fan, Detail, Deluxe Shader, Crease, Smudge, Deluxe Spoolie, Eye Brush/Comb
I wrote to Jane while she was on vacation to see what she had packed. She wrote back:
- PurePressed Base
- D20
- brown XXX but you can't say that yet (sorry friends, this is a soon-to-be released product. I will fill this in later, after we release it!)
- Powder-Me, too, of course.
- Lash Conditioner and Lengthening Mascara,
- oh and Whisper Blush which I can also use on my eyes.
Now it's your turn. Please share your travel tips! What do you bring in your makeup kit when you travel?

Spring is beautiful, but in the Berkshires it can be tentative at best. In the past month we have had ninety degree days, and also snow. However, we are still determined to celebrate the season with fresh makeup and new clothes. So in that spirit, here are some of my favorite things about spring:
- Skipping the blow dryer. What's the point? With so many April (and May) showers, the blowout isn't going to make it anyway. So give your poor heat-distressed tresses a rest and look soft and romantic.
- Brilliant florals. What better time to access our inner girly-girls and just be really pretty. This year, Liberty of London is perfectly on Target ;)
- Jane's garden. It is an uplifting reminder on the way to work every morning that beauty has real value.
- Wild wellies. Let it rain, our feet are dry and fabulous.

- And last but not least: pink cheeks and lips. There is nothing as fresh, pretty and feminine as glowing pink cheeks (Clarity In Touch Cream Blush is my go-to); and soft, bright lips (Sugar Plum PureGloss and Fascination Lip Fixation are in heavy rotation).

Now it's your turn! Leave a comment on this blog post about your favorite things about spring. We will pick our ten favorite comments, and those ten people will receive one Lip Fixation in their favorite shade.

We love our mineral makeup because of its healthy benefits to our skin, but let's talk COLOR because it's so much fun!
In my office, we love to play with makeup. We get inspired by hairstyles, clothing, a new makeup collection, or maybe something going on in the world (like Carleen's New Moon look last fall). We have fun with it and want to share! So here is the first in a series of photos (and how-to tips) of some of the looks we have been playing with.
Cate has the most amazing hair I have ever seen, it is like a cloud of curls around her head. She is so adept at styling it, it's different every day. We all have hair envy! Here she is with it loose and wild complimented by soft makeup:

Below you can see a close-up of the makeup she used, primarily from the Silver Lining collection.
She swept the lightest shade from the Silver Lining PurePressed Triple Eye Shadow over the lids from lashes to brow. Oyster Pure Pressed Eye Shadow went in the inner corners of the eyes. She used Midnight Blue Pencil to line the upper and lower lashes. Cate loves PureLash Extender & Conditioner under Longest Lash Mascara in Black Ice.
To get that gorgeous flush, Cate used Cotton Candy PurePressed Blush on her cheeks. Her lips are soft and romantic with Pink Candy PureGloss.

Stay tuned, we'll have more from Cate and the rest of us!

Is it just me or are the fall trends amazing this year? Here is the first post in a series on having fun with them.
Trend #1: Hot Pink Lips!
Goes well with: Neon accents on clothing or accessories.
Our take: Use warm golden/copper shades on the eyes. Try the gold end of Double Dazzle on the lid, and a bit of the copper end in the crease. Simply draw it on and blend with your finger. Keep it simple and soft: skip eye liner, and add just a bit of mascara. I am obsessed with Longest Lash Mascara in Black Ice. it is the perfect inky black, makes full feathery lashes, and I've really noticed that my lashes are longer since I starterd using it.
Add a sheer pop of color to the cheeks with In Touch Cream Blush in Clarity. Just stroke it onto the apples of your cheeks (smile) and blend gently with your fingers.
For really bright lips, start with Renee PureMoist LipColour and top with Pink Candy PureGloss. Or for a more sheer look, just use Pink Candy.

There was this great article from Yahoo and Real Simple showing four clothing colors that are universally flattering.
These colors are gorgeous, and you can see from the pictures below that they flatter quite different skin tones. If they look good on your body, how much better will they look on your face? It was easy to find these shades throughout our line; here are some of my favorites, try them out and have some fun:
Eggplant - Mauve Silk Eye Gloss; Cloud Nine PurePressed EyeShadow Triple

True Red - Carrie PureMoist LipColour; Crimson Lip Definer.

Teal - Azure PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple; Aquamarine 24-Karat Gold Dust

Mellow Rose - Antique Rose PurePressed Eye Shadow; Soft Peach PureGloss

Lipstick junkies unite! Whether it's lipstick, lip gloss, or lip plumper, you know who you are, and if anyone looks into your purse, they will know too! To lighten your load and control the chaos, keep an attractive bowl or jar by the door. When you come home, toss your lip color du jour in the jar just like people do with keys or spare change. When you grab a new color in the morning, it will be the only one in your bag. Can't choose just one color? Try our MultiLip or MultiGloss Kits. Thanks to Connie, our Program Development Manager for this fabulous tip!

In June, we ran a contest asking our partners to send us their best look featuring makeup from the Cool Beauty Collection. We got many fabulous photos, all of which are posted on our Facebook fan page. We were thrilled by the diversity of the entries, showing how many totally different looks can be achieved with these products; and also how creative people can get with our makeup! It was very difficult to choose, but finally the top three picks were made by Jane and our team of National Makeup Artist/Educators.
First Place went to Camillia Rodio of Vancouver Washington:

To create this dramatic look, Camillia used Absence Primer followed by PurePressed Base in Bisque. On the eyes she used the Azure trio with the aqua hue on the eye lid and underneath rounding the corners of the eyes, and 24-Karat Gold Dust in Aquamarine. Parfait PurePressed Blush flushed the cheeks. For the lips she used Erin PureMoist LipColour topped with Cosmo PureGloss.
Second place went to Larissa Keeney of the Sandpearl Resort & Spa in Clearwater Florida.

To achieve this soft and vibrant look, Larissa primed her model Danielle's face with Absence 2, then applied Liquid Minerals in Coffee, and Amazing Base in Caramel. She finished the face with PureMatte and a spritz of D20. To conceal any imperfections, she applied Disappear in both Medium and Dark. On the Cheeks, Larissa applied PurePressed Blush in Dubonnet. For this incredible eye look, Larissa primed the lids with Canvas Lid Primer, then applied the PurePressed Triple Eye Shadow in Azure. To line the eyes, she used Liquid Eyeliner in Pinot Noir. Finishing touches included Pure Lash Extender&Conditioner and Black Ice Longest Lash Mascara on the eyes, and the brows were groomed with Smokey Grey PurePressed Eye Shadow and Brown/Black Pencil. The lips were prepped with Sugar & Butter, defined with Taupe Lip Definer, colored with PureMoistLip Colour in Julia, and kissed with PureGloss in Just Gloss.
Third place went to Linda Allen of L A Skincare in Greensboro, NC.
Her model (and daughter-in-law) Ginger's luminous look was created starting with Golden Glow Liquid Minerals and Amazing Base applied to the face and neck. Her cheeks are glowing with PurePressed Blush in Whisper and a touch of Bronzer mixed together, then Moonglow on the jaw line. To prep the eyes, Linda started with Canvas Lid Primer on the eyelids. She then applied Azure to the upper lids, and Pinot Noir Liquid Eyeliner to upper eyelid; and finished with two coats of Longest Lash Mascara in Black Ice. The brows were beautifully shaped with Brunette Super Shape Me Eyebrow Kit. Ginger's lips were lined with Nude Lip Definer, Julia PureMoist LipColour and Just Gloss. As a finishing touch, Aquamarine 24-Karat Gold Dust was dusted in the hair and on the décolleté.
